Call Out To All SSA Members – Responce Required ASAP !

The committee is considering making an A4 booklet about the SSA and the members of the society. We’re thinking of putting 2 artists on one page, Most probably there would be an image of the artist, one image of their chosen artwork and about 100 words from you- a short artist’s statement. The making of this booklet would not cost you anything, the society would pay for it. The booklet would be available to buy for anyone (not only members), for about £5-£6, which would cover the cost of printing.

Would you be interested in being in this SSA booklet? Please check your email now- just one word would be enough (YES or NO). First we’d like to know if there is enough interest from you to even put this together.

If most of you say yes, David Shiers will design the pages which will be a huge job! So he’ll be doing this in his spare time for no compensation and he’ll send it off to a printing company.

If you’d like to be in the booklet we’d need a couple of things from you:

– One image of you (it doesn’t have to be passport style. You can be on holiday, you can paint, or stand in front of a beautiful rose bush- it’s up to you) The image must be high quality JPEG though.

– You’d need to provide us with one high quality image of any of your paintings. (Also JPEG)

– We’d need about 100 words from you- in the third person. You could write anything about yourself: art career, what inspires you, what style of painting/ artwork you like doing, anything really.

We’d need these details by 12th May, 2024, so you still have time.

We’re planning to make this booklet for the exhibition at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery in Hanley in November 2024. This will be the 90th anniversary of the Society’s very first exhibition at the same place.
